Baddeck, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia
Baddeck is the centre of the Cabot Trail universe, a haven of deep blue harbour, friendly villagers, charming shops & world-class golf. It is the jumping-off spot for points East (St. Ann's, Ingonish, Louisbourg), West (Margaree Harbour, Inverness, Mabou, Cheticamp), & the Wondrous Between: Spectacular views, hiking trails, talented Cape Breton artisans, & the rim of sparkling sky and sea called the Cabot Trail. There's just something about Baddeck. We discovered Baddeck (& the Manse) in 1994 by the happiest of accidents.

The Manse is the cream-colored house up the hill in center of above photo. Note Baddeck wharf on left, Yacht Club to right with white railing. Bell Museum (not visible) is up the hill to far right.![]()

The Village Manse is a circa 1902 Victorian lady that served as the Presbyterian Manse in Baddeck for many years -- thus the affectionate recognition from any villager when you say you are staying at "The Manse." It is just a walk away from wharf, shops, Bell Bay Golf Club & Alexander Graham Bell Museum.
